A few years ago I read an article over at The Salonniere about traditional holiday entertaining. Research conducted by a professional survey firm found the following:

  • 80% of people don’t like fruitcake
  • 73% of people regift during the holidays (wine, gift cards and candles are the most common items to pass along)
  • 62% of people don’t want to go out on New Year’s Eve
  • 51% of people don’t like eggnog and 7% aren’t familiar with the taste

People. I get your aversion to fruitcake, I hate leaving the house on New Year’s Even and heaven knows I’ve regifted a candle or two in my time, but friends, I love the taste of eggnog!

This year I am gifting a loaves of my favorite eggnog bread to select friends and family. I don’t know if they belong to the 49% of people who like eggnog, but I am so confident in this tasty treat I’m not the least bit worried.

A lot of eggnog flavored recipes have alcohol, but since I don’t drink there isn’t any in the house. I do keep a bottle of Trader Joe’s Bourbon Vanilla with the baking supplies and it helps create the perfect flavor in this eggnog bread recipe.

This eggnog bread recipe creates two full loaves or four mini loaves. I almost always prefer to make mini loaves. They’re easy to gift and if I am being completely honest, I don’t feel as bad about polishing off a mini loaf.I like to use these Wilton Mini Loaf Pans.

The bread can be served hot out of the oven, or topped with a delicious glaze. I like to add the glaze and give it a bit of time before I serve it or package it up in a bag.

  2. Save the printable and open it on your computer.
  3. Send it to your personal color printer at home or take it to a professional print shop.Note: I use aCanon Pixma Profor all of my printable gift tags and art prints. I find that often it prints a cleaner, clearer image than if I took it to a professional printer. The gift tags will look best printed onbright white 80 lb. cardstock.
  4. Trim the gift tags to size. I usethis Fiskars trimmerfor all of my projects. It’s substantial enough to cut through multiple sheets, while remaining easy to use.
  5. Punch a hole in the top of the gift tag. TheWe R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dileis one of my favorite craft tools. it will punch through anything, including an entire stack of gift tags with ease.
  6. I gave the tags a more finished look by using the We R Memory Keepers Corner Punch. It’s one of my favorite tools for taking a simple gift tag from printable to perfect.
  7. Sign the gift tags with a fine point, felt tip marker. I love to useLe Pens. They come in a variety of colors and write so smoothly!
  8. Tie the gift tags to the eggnog bread gift bags using somebaker’s twine or ribbon.
