An Easy Sugar Scrub

Maintaining healthy skin can be as simple or as laborious as you make it. The most important thing to remember is to treat your skin with kindness. Only use simple ingredients.

This sugar scrub is one of the easiest beauty recipes I’ve ever made. It only has 3 ingredients. But every single ingredient has a specific task.

The best thing about this sugar scrub is how your skin will feel afterwards! It is so gentle on sensitive skin. It removes the dead skin while also calming it and nourishing it at the same time.

The entire recipe is at the bottom of the post. You can scroll down to check it out. But first I’m going to answer some common questions about sugar scrubs and lavender.

What does sugar scrub do?

A sugar scrub gently exfoliates your skin, removing the dead skin cells and leaving behind smooth, glowing skin.

When you use a sugar scrub, the sugar granules rub against your skin. The dead skin rinses off with the rest of the scrub.

This is why it is so important to choose the ingredients in your sugar scrubs carefully. If you have sensitive skin, use something that will calm your skin after the exfoliation.

How to Use A Sugar Scrub

To use a sugar scrub, follow these steps.

  1. Begin with wet skin in the shower
  2. Allow your skin to soften from the warm to hot water
  3. Apply the sugar scrub in circular motions
  4. Do not rub too harshly, be gentle – the sugar scrub will do most of the work
  5. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

What are the benefits of LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL?

Lavender essential oil is known as a calming oil. The most common benefits are:

  • Better sleep – There is actually clinical research that shows using lavender oil can help you sleep better.
  • Reduced anxiety – Since lavender is such a calming oil, it can relax your muscles, steady your breathing, and reduce your anxiety.
  • Helps with wound healing – The oils from the lavender plant can help minor wounds (like scratches and burns) heal faster.
  • Reduces pain – Applying lavender oil to sore muscles or minor skin issues can reduce the amount of pain you feel.
  • Contains antimicrobial properties – According to a scholarly overview of the oil, it contains antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that can be used in addition to common medicines.

Lavender Sugar Scrub Ingredients

This sugar scrub only has 3 ingredients:

I used granulated sugar. Some people use brown sugar. Either one will work just as well as the other, it all depends on which one you prefer.

DIY Gift Ideas

Sure you can keep this all to yourself. But it also makes a super easy – and totally gorgeous – DIY gift idea. Here are just a few of the best times/occassions for giving it as a gift:

  • Teacher appreciation gift
  • Christmas present
  • Birthday gift
  • Part of a home spa gift basket
  • Pamper gift to a new mom
  • Bridal shower gift (relaxation before the big day)

I’m sure you can think of many more! Basically, if you know someone that could use some relaxation or pampering, this make a very thoughtful gift.

When you give it as a DIY gift, presentation is key. Decorate the jar with ribbon. Personalize the jar with their name. Add a few trinkets to the gift – like a wooden spoon, a washcloth or loofa, and a fluffy towel.

Ingredients:

UPDATE – There were a few comments from people that live in different climates. Climate will change the recipe because coconut oil is solid below 76 degree F.

If you use coconut oil that is solid at room temperature in your home, add 1 tsp of filtered or bottle water to the mixture. However, if you use fractionated coconut oil, you will not need any water.

As you can see from the package, coconut oil is solid at 76 degrees. If you live in a warm climate or keep your home at 76 degrees or warmer, you will not need the water either. If this is a gift, you might want to add the water just in case.

Directions:

Sift through sugar to remove lumps.

Blend together the coconut oil and sugar in a bowl.
